Dr Tim Cox
Water Resources and Water Quality Modeller
Tim has more than 20 years of experience in water resources and water-quality modelling and science, having honed his skills as a post-graduate at NIWA, where he was also employed as a scientist between 2008 and 2011.
As well as working for Streamlined Environmental in New Zealand, Tim provides similar services in the US and Australia through the US-based consulting company CDM Smith. He has extensive expertise in catchment, stream, and lake water-quality modelling, water-supply planning analysis, water allocation modelling, contaminant modelling, climate change adaptation in water resources, and hydrology. He is the principal developer of a suite of water resources planning software tools in use today, including the Simplified Water Allocation Model (SWAM), the Contaminant Allocation and Simulation Model (CASM), and the Simplified Lake Analysis Model (SLAM).
Dr. Cox also has considerable experience in developing ecosystem-specific models, conducting field-scale investigations, and incorporating economic analysis into water quality models.
