RMA Decision Making
Dr Ngaire Phillips and Dr Mike Stewart are accredited RMA Commissioners and have variously sat on hearing panels as independent commissioners deciding a range of freshwater and coastal environmental matters.
Our combined experience includes decision making on resource consents, including discharge consents for meatworks, coal mining, dairy plant, wastewater treatment plants and quarry operations; a water conservation order (Special Tribunal for the Ngaruroro and Clive Rivers, Hawkes Bay), and a plan change.
Dr Phillips is also an appointed member of the HSNO Committee, which makes decisions under the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act. In addition, she has recently been appointed as a Freshwater Commissioner and will sit on freshwater hearings panels, hearing submissions and making recommendations in accordance with Part 4 – Subpart 1 of the Resource Management Act 2020.
With long experience in New Zealand science and environmental issues, good understanding of the purpose and mechanics of the Resource Management Act, and demonstrated commitment to proper process and objectivity, Streamlined Environmental’s staff are well equipped to act as wise and confident independent decision makers.
